Ten Miler Monday: CUCB Week 6

Workout

Did a bunch of PT last night before bed.  Today was a rest day so I didn’t do any cardio, but I will probably try to get a little PT in before bed (late date night means less PT, though).

CUCB Week 5 Recap

Here’s a look back at last week’s plan:

Monday: Bike commute, PT
Tuesday: 20 minutes walking, 10 minutes elliptical or bike
Wednesday: 20 minutes walking, 10 minutes elliptical; Bike commute
Thursday: 30 min pool running
Friday: Bike commute, PT
Saturday: Bike, done to mimic the track workout
Sunday: 20 minutes walking, 30 minutes elliptical, 30 minutes bike

I did a really good job sticking with last week’s workouts and bike commuting, and definitely got some great workouts out.  I even upped Thursday’s workout to 40 minutes in the pool.  And on Sunday, I was able to walk 5.1 miles outside.  Without a doubt I was able to make a lot of progress last week :) .  My fingers are crossed that there will be a lot more in store for this week!  (My gait analysis is tomorrow so please keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well.)

Daily Mile

Workouts all 7 days last week!

CUCB Training Week 6

And here’s what this week looks like:

Monday: Rest, PT
Tuesday: 30 minutes walking, Gait analysis, bike commute, PT
Wednesday: 40 minutes walking, PT
Thursday: 40 min pool running
Friday: Bike commute, PT
Saturday: Bike, done to mimic the track workout
Sunday: 7 miles walking (do I dare wish for some running???), PT

I only have two days of bike commuting on the calendar this week.  Tonight, Matt and I had date night after work, Wednesday we’re supposed to get the Snowquester (seriously, I can’t make this up), and Thursday is another pool workout.  Hopefully those two days will be supplementing some quality interval time this week.  I’m trying not to get my hopes up…but let’s be honest, they’re up!  In fact, I was tempted to not even post a workout plan until tomorrow night so I knew what my cardio options were going to be this week.  Regardless, I’m looking forward to getting some good sweat sessions in, keeping my heart rate up, and spending some time outside!

Cherry Blossom Update

The CUCB organizers are looking for a high school band to come perform during the race, and to help all of the incredible runners finish strong!

CUCB bands

If you or someone you know would be interested in getting your band involved with the best spring race in DC, contact jen@cherryblossom.org ASAP!

Also, the peak prediction for cherry blossom bloom came out today, and it’s scheduled to be the week before the race :( !  Keep your fingers crossed for a cooler spring (aka bloom will happen closer to race day) OR start working on your pink costumes!

Your Turn:  Were you in band in high school?  Have you ever had a gait analysis done?  Have you ever been in DC during cherry blossoms?

  1. Fingers crossed for a late bloom! I can’t wait to run. Do you think you’ll be able to run any of it?

One of the things I wants to see is the cherry blossoms when I am in D.C. late March so I was excited to hear the peak prediction is expected at that time.

I couldn’t remember if you guys were coming March or May and was thinking about that right before you posted this! You guys definitely need to check out the blossoms when you’re here!!! They’re so beautiful.
